Gold Coast Airport Records Strong Start to 2023

March 22, 2023

Gold Coast Airport has recorded its busiest February since pre-covid with more than 429,000 passengers travelling through the terminal last month.

The latest figures show passenger numbers have jumped by more than 45 per cent when compared to this time last year.

Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said it’s been a strong start to the year at Gold Coast Airport.

“Our passenger numbers are 402,000 ahead of where we were this time last year, and more importantly we’re seeing many of our airline partners report fuller planes and more passengers than pre-covid,” Ms Charlton said.

“The Sydney and Melbourne routes remained our most popular connections throughout February, she said.

“Internationally New Zealand continues to see strong demand with the Auckland services proving to be particularly popular.”

“In the next few weeks, we’ll see the start of our Bali and Kuala Lumpur services and with that international passenger numbers will pick up even further,” she said.

“The addition of those two routes will provide more than 180,000 seats a year between Southeast Asia and the Gold Coast, boosting connectivity and bringing more visitors to this region.”

A total of more than 1 million passengers have travelled through Gold Coast Airport since the beginning of the year.
