Tropic Like It’s Hot

While winter on the Gold Coast might only call for a light jumper and a few cooler mornings, sometimes you just want to chase that real tropical heat. That’s where Darwin comes in.

A sailboat glides across calm blue waters at sunset, with the Darwin city skyline and lush green coastline in the background.

Direct flights from Gold Coast to Darwin take off with Jetstar on 26 June 2025, just in time to swap the chill for sunsets, markets and mango smoothies in the sunshine.

Darwin is warm, wild and packed with personality. Think croc encounters, rich culture, knockout sunsets and cocktails by the water. All in one laid-back tropical city.

Darwin Does Sunsets Better

Darwin’s evenings are pure postcard material. The Mindil Beach Sunset Market runs every Thursday and Sunday during the dry season, with 200+ stalls offering everything from satay skewers to handmade crafts. Grab dinner, find a spot on the sand and watch the sky do its thing.

If movies are more your pace, Deckchair Cinema is pure magic. Picture this: deckchairs under the stars, ocean breezes and your favourite snacks in hand. It’s cosy, it’s open-air and it’s about as Darwin as it gets.

Nature Hits Different Up Here

If you’re the type who packs sneakers and swimmers, Darwin’s got you sorted. This is where waterfalls, wildlife and wide-open spaces are all just a short trip away.

Kick things off at Litchfield National Park, only 90 minutes from the city and overflowing with Insta-worthy spots like Wangi Falls, natural plunge pools and magnetic termite mounds (trust us, they’re cooler than they sound).

Want to meet a croc, safely? Hop on an Adelaide River jumping crocodile cruise and watch these prehistoric locals launch out of the water. It’s thrilling, a little terrifying and very Top End.

Prefer something slower paced? Berry Springs Nature Park is perfect for a swim-and-snack afternoon, with shaded picnic areas and warm, spring-fed pools.

And if you're staying close to town, the Darwin Waterfront Lagoon is your go-to. It’s safe, swimmable and just steps from the CBD. Ideal for a refreshing dip between sightseeing and sunset drinks.

Eat Like a Local

Darwin’s food scene is a melting pot, in the best way. With strong influences from Southeast Asia and the Pacific, you’ll find big flavours, bold spice and plenty of variety.

Ready to Go?

Darwin’s a little wild, a little spicy and a whole lot warmer than here. With direct flights from Gold Coast Airport launching 26 June 2025, it’s officially on your radar.

Book it. Pack the sunnies. Prepare for a proper change of scenery.
