Gold Coast Airport has been named the Best Regional Airport in Australia and Pacific for the fifth time at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in Amsterdam overnight.

The awards, referred to as the ‘Oscars of the airport industry’ are based on customer feedback from more than 13 million airport questionnaires conducted across 550 airports internationally and are regarded as a quality benchmark for the world airport industry.

Queensland Airports Limited Chief Executive Officer Amelia Evans congratulated all of the team who work at Gold Coast Airport.

“To win this award for the fifth time is credit to the more than 2,200 team members who workat Gold Coast Airport, including our airline and retail partners. We are all so proud of the team who continue to focus on the customer every single day,” Ms Evans said.

Gold Coast Airport was also named The Cleanest Airport in Australia and Pacific for 2023.

“What makes these awards so special is that we don’t self-nominate, it’s based on direct feedback from the travelling public, so it’s the best indicator of our performance from a customer experience point of view,” she said.

“The recognition that comes with awards at this level not only puts Gold Coast Airport in the spotlight, but it places the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales communities on the world stage,” Ms Evans said.

“This hascome at a particularly exciting time for Gold Coast Airport, with our newinternational terminal now open and global connections continuing to be anambition for us in the future.”

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted congratulated Gold Coast Airport for their success in winning these important customer awards for 2023.

“The past few years have been extremely challenging forairports worldwide, and as we move on from the Covid-19 pandemic it is pleasing to see passenger numbers returning to normal, and for Gold Coast Airport to be recognised as a leading airport by their customers.”

Gold Coast Airport also claimed Best Regional Airport Australia/Pacific awards in 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Gold Coast Airport’s new International Terminal wasofficially opened in Novembe year, with upgrades now a focus on the domestic terminal.
