Gold Coast Airport Terminal Redevelopment ProjectThe Gold Coast Airport's $100million terminal redevelopment is underway as stage one kicks off, set to more than double the size of the existing building to 27,000 square metres to cater for forecast passenger growth over the next ten years. The focus is to ensure the terminal is fast and efficient for airlines and their passengers by taking a common user approach with one main check-in area for all airlines with self service kiosks, a single baggage collection and screening point, and one main departures and arrivals area. Whilst these renovations are for your future convenience, they may cause some temporary inconvenience. Why not arrive early and enjoy a coffee at Velluto before you take off. 30 Sept Recent travellers would have noticed that the first of the temporary terminal entry tunnels was positioned on 18 September. This purpose built unit will act as both the transit passenger entry and screening point. 9 Sept Attemtion smokers! Designated smoking areas (including ash trays) in front of both Terminal 1 & 2 have been relocated to their new location at the southern of T1 and northern end of T2. 2 Sept Early works have begun to alter the both the passenger arrivals area as well as the security passenger screening point in Terminal 2. These changes are necessary to accommodate larger passenger numbers as a result of proposed direct flights to Japan in October. 15 July Airside early works are progressing well northward along the tarmac.
