Looking Back:

Thean Hou TempleThean Hou Temple
Crowning a forested hilltop, this shrine is topped by an impressive dragon roof. The main shrine is dedicated to the Heavenly Mother, Thean Hou, flanked by Guan Yin (the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy) and Shuiwei Shengniang (the Goddess of the Waterfront). Check out the great views from the upper decks and browse the religious bric-a-brac stalls in the basement.

Islamic Arts Museum

The Islamic Arts Museum showcases Malaysia's fascinating Islamic history and houses one of the world’s most comprehensive Islamic art collections. The museum’s Islamic architectural details are striking and among the gallery’s treasures are costumes, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, weapons and religious manuscripts.

Malaysian street stallPetaling Street
Petaling St is the centre of Kuala Lumpar’s original China Town and maintains much of its traditional atmosphere, particularly at night when vendors spread their wares out on the street. Purchase anything from gems to incense to toys, and take in the sights, sounds, and energy.

Looking Forward:

Petronas Towers

There is no better symbol of KL than the iconic Petronas Towers. These shimmering chrome towers rise over 450 metres above the city, a constant reminder of KL’s rise from tin mine to slick metropolis. Inspired by traditional motifs from Islamic art, the cross-section of each tower is an eight-sided star echoing patterns from Arabic tiles. The five tiers represent the five pillars of Islam. Among the many facilities in the KLCC development is an aquarium, children’s museum, and famous shopping centre. Arrive early (8:30am) to collect one of 1200 free tickets to the 41st-floor Skybridge, which connects the two towers.

Bukit Bintang NightLife

Changkat Bukit Bintang is a popular stretch of bars and restaurants that transforms into a colourful and glamorous night spot. Combining historical charms with contemporary chic, this area is popular with locals and visitors alike.
