Cycling Holidays in Sydney and Newcastle

Loop the Metropolis

Join one of the many guided bike tours or simply hire a bike and peddle at your own pace. Sydney has many designated bicycle paths so you can avoid the traffic and cycle in safety. A series of cycle path maps are available from the New South Wales Road & Traffic Authority. Break harbour side or park your bike in the blooming botanical gardens.

Roll through the Hunter
Take a romantic tandem bike ride to a quiet spring picnic or to one of the many local restaurants. Invigorate the senses in the glorious Hunter Valley as you roll leisurely through beautiful vineyard surrounds before rewarding yourself with a grassy Verdelho. You might just ride in on time to enjoy one of the Valley’s popular spring events. Some bike rentals will even deliver the bike to your accommodation.

Cruise NewcastleNewcastle
The cycleway around the harbour will take you along Stockton breakwall. Along Shipwreck Walk find the remains of the barque Adolphe and plaques commemorating wrecked ships that failed to negotiate rough seas at the entrance to Newcastle Harbour. Ride out to Fern Bay or to Stockton’s main street to break for a coffee before returning to the ferry. Back at Queens Wharf, return to Merewether via Newcastle East.
