Floriade

All things bright and beautiful!

Floriade is the biggest flower festival in Australia, a spectacular celebration of spring set against the stunning backdrop of Canberra's Commonwealth Park. The heart of the nation’s capital never looked so blooming good!

'floriade1.jpgFloriade' is derived from the Latin word Floriat, meaning 'to design with flowers' and this year’s festival features more than one million blooms. It is now the largest event of this nature in the southern hemisphere and offers something for the whole family. Rejuvenate mind, body and soul amid the spectacular garden designs, test the regions finest food and wine; and enjoy the live entertainment and variety of workshops.

Expect comedy, dance, theatre and musical performances, and don’t miss special guests Marcia Hines and country music sensation the McClymonts. Meet your favourite farm animals at the Patting Paddock and learn about the incredible creatures at the Riveting Reptile exhibition.

Judge for yourself the floral artistry from Top Interflora aterciopelodos5-flower.jpgdesigners as they compete in a national competition and scope out the rest of the creative talent in a host of other artistic displays including mosaic and photography.

Explore the world of sport at the Australian Sports Commission marquee and meet Australian Institute of Sport athletes, coaches and scientific experts.

Exhausted? Settle into the serenity of the Lotus Lounge and indulge in natural therapies amongst the brilliance of blossoming gardens. And of course, please take time to smell the roses.

Floriade runs from September 12 until October 11 so head to Virgin Blue to book your direct flight to the capital from Gold Coast Airport.
